With the e-Commerce boom, consumers today are more demanding. From any device connected to the network, they are able to compare features, prices, know the ratings of other customers and make a decision even without physically seeing the product.
Despite the trend towards digitalization, retail is committed to adopting an omnichannel strategy, where stores are transformed into spaces where they can offer “unique experiences” to their customers.
Technology is redefining this shopping experience and allows brands to know their customers, their consumption patterns, even predict their purchase intentions.
Specifically, Artificial Intelligence, data collection and interpretation (Big Data) are the basis for offering increasingly personalized and unique user experiences.
Thanks to facial recognition, CCTV systems classify customers through demographic variables (gender, age, etc.) in real time, “anonymizing” any data, thus complying with the Data Protection regulatory framework.
Know the exact number of people in an establishment and track occupancy automatically.
The video systems detect if a queue exceeds the desired number of people or the maximum waiting time and send an alarm so that the store reacts and minimizes waiting times by opening, for example, a cash register automatically.
Locating video surveillance images associated with any operation performed on your POS network in just seconds for an agile response to suspicious transactions is vital to eliminate the risk of fraud.
“Data Driven Marketing”.
Data Driven Marketing collects information from customer interactions. This method provides insight into consumer motivations, preferences and behaviors to anticipate their needs, improve the customer experience and generate greater revenues and profits.
But how can we collect this information without conditioning our customers’ behavior?
Video technology is emerging as one of the most suitable technologies, as it collects the images and therefore associated data (metadata) without interfering in the purchase process. to eliminate the risk of fraud.

One platform to dominate them all. A unique platform. No, we are not talking about a new prequel or a sequel to one of the most successful literary and film sagas in history. We are talking about the famous PSIM (Physical Security Information Management).
It is widely believed that by using a PSIM, a user will lose the dependency on their current providers of alarm solutions, fires, CCTV, access control, etc. That you are going to have the possibility to put any manufacturer or software platform for each of the elements of electronic security mentioned above, and that is true, but you do not realize that you are entering into an even greater captivity since you are going to have a single platform to manage all electronic security systems.
Does this captivity pose a risk to the user?
Initially, PSIM manufacturers guarantee maximum integration with the customer’s existing physical security solutions, but the integrated functionality and operational versatility achieved will never reach the level of the manufacturer’s own alarm or CCTV system. There have already been cases in which, once the PSIM has been deployed, when the supplier is asked to go one step further in certain integration or new functionalities, the first answer given by the supplier is “I already have that with my own equipment, why don’t you use them instead of the ones you already have” and the second one is “if you want me to do it for you, go to the cashier”. Surely not in those words, but with that final message.
This type of PSIM platforms are generalist in nature, since they have the same functionalities for a public security, banking or industrial user. This means that, ultimately, the user who incorporates it in his entity will have an underutilized platform since there will be many functionalities that are not applicable to him, so he would be paying, and not a little, for many things that will not be used. As they are not niche specialists, they do not have internalized the specific needs of that sector, as the current suppliers of that user may have, since they are the ones who have been accompanying them and often evolving their equipment and solutions with the suggestions and requests received from that user. Because let’s not fool ourselves, at the end of the day, for a PSIM provider, that user is just another user.
Before considering the possibility of incorporating a PSIM, the user should balance the theoretical benefits with all the exit costs in case the software or the manufacturer does not meet his expectations. You have the figure of how much it costs you to incorporate it, so you will know how much more, at least, it would cost you to stop using it and change it for another one if it does not meet your expectations.
That is why, in case you are considering using a PSIM system in your organization, the end user should consider the significant risks of relying on a single electronic security vendor and the captivity that this entails.
Do you dare?

The $32 million project is a milestone and a breakthrough for the future of large-scale energy storage in Mozambique.
CHALLENGE
Under the slogan “Energy for all”, the Government of Mozambique is building this hybrid solar plant with the goal of universal energy access by 2030, in a new step towards a clean energy future.
This hybrid solar plant is located in the city of Cuamba (Mozambique) and is the first project in the country to integrate a utility-scale energy storage system.
The design, supply and commissioning of this solar plant is being executed by the Spanish company
TSK, a leading company in the execution of EPC or
“turnkey” projects in the industrial, energy and environmental fields.
TSK has been present in the country for more than 8 years.
For the physical protection of this solar plant, TSK has the support of SCATI, a manufacturer of intelligent video systems, with which it has been collaborating for years to protect the projects in which it participates.
SOLUTION
For the protection and total control of the plant, 37 thermal cameras with different lenses model SET-14C10-EYA SET-14C10-EYA and two 4-megapixel outdoor PTZ dome cameras have been installed.
These thermal cameras are mainly used to detect hot spots that develop due to defective cells in solar panels.
Changes in solar radiation intensity in solar parks can cause thermal anomalies that, if not carefully controlled, can have a negative impact on the entire module.
These thermal cameras allow images to be viewed under any lighting, weather or environmental condition, offering high image quality.
On the other hand, these thermal cameras also allow perimeter protection of the solar plant, keeping intruders or unauthorized persons away and are capable of detecting fires and sending real-time alerts to react in time, even anticipating risk situations with maximum reliability.
These cameras are managed by a SCATI FENIX Video Management System (VMS) that allows a connection of up to 64 IP cameras and with a capacity to manage up to 100 clients simultaneously through the SCATI FENIX CMS.
When a camera detects an uncontrolled heat source, it sends an alert so that operators can verify it and take action to prevent incidents that can result in millions of dollars in losses.
BENEFITS
TSK is once again committed to SCATI’s technology, investing in systems that allow it not only to protect the facilities of this project from vandalism or dangerous situations. With SCATI’s solutions you are also able to control and prevent all the problems that can be caused by failures in the photovoltaic panels, in a more efficient and sustainable way.
The high availability of SCATI’s recording systems allows the customer to access images, data and storage even in the most critical situations where servers may go offline.
SCATI offers an open and scalable solution that can be integrated with other systems so that the customer can incorporate new video systems at any time without making additional investments.

SCATI and Moontech team up to give MRA greater control of its facilities
MRA (Módulos Ribera Alta) ) is a company that belongs to the CEFA group, dedicated to the manufacture of components for the automotive sector. Specifically, its Figueruelas plant manufactures the dashboards for the Seat León, the Corsa and the Volkswagen T-Cross, as well as doors for the new Corsa.
In recent years, MRA has undergone a major industrial transformation with new process lines and an internal logistics automation system using AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles).
In 2021, they introduced their first autonomous vehicle in order to improve efficiency and optimize their processes. they have 28 autonomous vehicles, continuously monitored and controlled, which, in addition to maximizing efficiency and safety, help them to reduce the percentage of accidents.
The implementation of these robots has been possible thanks to the collaboration of Moontech, a company dedicated to software development and systems integration.
An AGV is an autonomous vehicle capable of pulling from 100 kg to 25 TN. They move along a magnetic circuit that runs along the floor of all the facilities. In this way, autonomous vehicles become a part of the production process, being the way to transport the load from point A to point B in a safe way.
MRA has a traffic controller with software that is responsible for autonomously receiving and sending requests for factory planning.
These autonomous vehicles live in a hostile environment, and that is where we with a commitment to innovation, introduce SCATI video surveillance systems into the process.
Thanks to the integration with the SCATI system, it is possible to determine any incident that occurs in the plant, locating on the main video wall the time of the incident and its location, and visualizing the images in real time.
Video technology is increasingly in demand in the industrial and logistics sector for its multiple applications. The incorporation of analytics in SCATI systems helps in the processes and avoids accidents: Overpassed line or intrusion, abandoned object, detects if a material is misplaced, verification of loading and unloading points of vehicles.
The placement of cameras makes it possible to protect the facilities and their assets, but they also make it possible to detect trouble spots to improve business excellence, are irrefutable proof for the resolution of incidents, prevent problems if critical situations arise, become a training tool for new employees and in this case control autonomous vehicles and the goods they transport.
With the union between SCATI and Moontech, MRA has greater control of its facilities.
“The incorporation of these autonomous vehicles (AGVs) with industrial vision allows MRA to position itself at the forefront of cutting-edge technology in the automotive sector, optimizing the efficiency and safety of its handling processes,” says Felix Oviedo, MRA’s Production Manager.

SCATI, manufacturer of intelligent IP video solutions incorporates the K series in its portfolio of video recorders.
Based on IP technology and within the VISION SUITE, this equipment has an integrated PoE switch with up to 24 PoE ports, to facilitate the implementation of the cameras connected directly to the equipment, which provides significant cost savings, and is expandable up to 64 IP channels through recording licenses with full availability.
The K series has 8 front 3.5″ SATA Hot Swap (or hot plug) disks that allow you to connect / disconnect your hard drives without shutting down the computer, which avoids damaging the storage unit internally and ensures its continuous operation and has up to 80TB of storage.
Its design maximizes uninterrupted operation in the event of failures by implementing hardware redundancy in its components and RAID 5 storage configuration, making it ideal for mission-critical video surveillance operations.
As the recording needs are different in each project and in each customer, using cameras of higher or lower resolution, having to record for longer or shorter periods of time, continuously or by events, all SCATI VISION recorders allow configurable storage with disks specifically manufactured for use in video surveillance. In addition, they are part of a fully scalable solution and are designed to work with any ONVIF camera.
The K series devices use H.265 compression algorithms, which allows the images to be stored in less storage (up to 40% less compared to other manufacturers using H.264) and the transmission of images over the network can be done in a much lighter and smoother way.
Like all VISION SUITE video recorders, the K series incorporates functionalities that allow continuous monitoring of their health and operation and, in the event that a failure is detected, to notify technical alarms; and they are also capable of simultaneously serving multiple clients and limiting the transmission of information according to the available bandwidth.
SCATI confirms that all its products and systems comply with the requirements of the US NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) and are 100% compliant.
SCATI also declares, by means of the CE marking (Conformité Européenne) of the European Union, that its products comply with the minimum safety requirements set out in the applicable directives.
