Supervision of solar panels by thermal cameras. Solar Power Plant (Mozambique)

The $32 million project is a milestone and a breakthrough for the future of large-scale energy storage in Mozambique.

CHALLENGE

Under the slogan “Energy for all”, the Government of Mozambique is building this hybrid solar plant with the goal of universal energy access by 2030, in a new step towards a clean energy future.

This hybrid solar plant is located in the city of Cuamba (Mozambique) and is the first project in the country to integrate a utility-scale energy storage system.

The design, supply and commissioning of this solar plant is being executed by the Spanish company TSK, a leading company in the execution of EPC or “turnkey” projects in the industrial, energy and environmental fields.

TSK has been present in the country for more than 8 years.

For the physical protection of this solar plant, TSK has the support of SCATI, a manufacturer of intelligent video systems, with which it has been collaborating for years to protect the projects in which it participates.

SOLUTION

For the protection and total control of the plant, 37 thermal cameras with different lenses model SET-14C10-EYA SET-14C10-EYA and two 4-megapixel outdoor PTZ dome cameras have been installed.

These thermal cameras are mainly used to detect hot spots that develop due to defective cells in solar panels.

Changes in solar radiation intensity in solar parks can cause thermal anomalies that, if not carefully controlled, can have a negative impact on the entire module.

These thermal cameras allow images to be viewed under any lighting, weather or environmental condition, offering high image quality.

On the other hand, these thermal cameras also allow perimeter protection of the solar plant, keeping intruders or unauthorized persons away and are capable of detecting fires and sending real-time alerts to react in time, even anticipating risk situations with maximum reliability.

These cameras are managed by a SCATI FENIX Video Management System (VMS) that allows a connection of up to 64 IP cameras and with a capacity to manage up to 100 clients simultaneously through the SCATI FENIX CMS.

When a camera detects an uncontrolled heat source, it sends an alert so that operators can verify it and take action to prevent incidents that can result in millions of dollars in losses.

BENEFITS

TSK is once again committed to SCATI’s technology, investing in systems that allow it not only to protect the facilities of this project from vandalism or dangerous situations. With SCATI’s solutions you are also able to control and prevent all the problems that can be caused by failures in the photovoltaic panels, in a more efficient and sustainable way.

The high availability of SCATI’s recording systems allows the customer to access images, data and storage even in the most critical situations where servers may go offline.

SCATI offers an open and scalable solution that can be integrated with other systems so that the customer can incorporate new video systems at any time without making additional investments.

We incorporate dual-spectrum cameras (thermal and optical) for perimeter protection.

We incorporate dual-spectrum cameras (thermal and optical) for perimeter protection.

They are ideal for the protection of any installation thanks to their availability in various formats and with different lens options.

Thermal camera perimetral protection

SCATI, manufacturer of intelligent video solutions, expands its product portfolio with dual-spectrum cameras characterized by combined thermal and optical vision. These cameras solve both short and long range protection needs, being possible thanks to the availability of different optics and formats (PTZ, bullet or minidome).

From the coverage of blind spots at short distances to the detection of people or vehicles in conditions of reduced environmental visibility at long distances, the fields of application are quite extensive, making it the ideal solution for the protection of environments of very large areas, both inside perimeter areas and outdoors.

The thermal image offers excellent detection rates and range (up to hundreds of meters) minimizing false alarms, while the 4Mpx optical image allows a much more detailed visual confirmation of the alarm, allowing to clearly identify the events that have occurred at the scene.

In this way, users can be guaranteed a very precise perimeter protection against intrusions, since they can have a subsequent visual confirmation as they approach the camera. This operation is of particular interest for critical infrastructures and in the utilities sector, in environments such as power plants, photovoltaic plants, radio communication stations, water purification or water treatment plants, etc.

Thanks to the incorporation of these camera models, SCATI continues to offer comprehensive security solutions, adapted to the vertical markets of its customers.

For small security projects

Face recognition Deeplearning recorders

This new line of video recorders incorporates deep learning algorithms for facial recognition and are capable of managing cameras with intelligent analytics for measuring body temperature, mask use and capacity control.

SCATI, a manufacturer of intelligent video solutions, incorporates in its portfolio a new range of video recorders with deep learning to fully exploit the benefits of Artificial Intelligence.

This new range of are able to perform the detection of body temperature while indicating the use or not of mask, based on indicators with different colors (red for high temperature, yellow for not using mask and green to indicate that everything is correct).

Face recognition and body temperature

With connection to 8 and 16 IP channels (FN76i-128P2 and FN76i-1216P2), they incorporate integrated PoE switch which simplifies their installation and start up and they are the perfect solution to complement the video surveillance system in small security projects that require a reliable solution that guarantees safe access to their facilities in real time.

With pre-configured video management software, these platforms offer a wide range of options to achieve maximum performance from your CCTV system and are capable of efficiently managing storage (up to 12TB) and available bandwidth (Input/Output: 80/120 Mbps).

Body temperature and mask detection by video

The FENIX SCATI recording platforms support live display, storage and playback of cameras with resolutions of up to 12 megapixels, offering video outputs with a resolution of up to 4K (3840 x 2160). In addition, the images can be visualized through a local screen that provides the data of the search of the records, the capacity, and the results of the detection/recognition.

From the CMS (Central Management System) you can manage the database of individuals (by lists) in a centralized way and search by date, name or similarity between images to verify any identity and even allow the propagation of lists (suspects, VIPs, etc.). The pre-configured software allows facial searches on video recorded in up to 4 channels even if the images have been captured by conventional cameras.

SCATI's R&D Department performs developments to incorporate Deep Learning algorithms in its video management platform (measurement of body temperature, detection of masks, gauging control, etc.) so that their customers can adapt to this new situation.
