Access control of subscribers’ vehicles in agri-food logistics platform (Spain)

Feb 12, 2024

This agri-food logistics platform controls access to its facilities by means of an advanced license plate recognition system that manages permits for different types of visitors.

CHALLENGE

This food logistics platform is a distribution, marketing, transformation and logistics center that operates 24 hours a day to guarantee food supplies within its 300 km radius.

Located near one of the main Spanish cities, this platform has an 80-hectare site where more than 150 companies supply food to more than 12 million users.

The platform has a fish, fruit and vegetable and meat market; it has its own slaughterhouse and a terminal with loading capacity and rail transport of goods under temperature control.

To facilitate and speed up the transit of its more than 3,700 daily visitors, the platform has a license plate recognition solution using video surveillance cameras..

SOLUTION

SCATI license plate recognition cameras are installed at the accesses to the logistics platform. The SDLC-3511VR-XYM2-LPR model is a vandal-resistant bullet camera (IK10) that offers up to 2 Mpx resolution and incorporates infrared with a range of up to 100 meters.

These features enable these cameras to identify vehicle license plates at night and in adverse weather conditions. This camera incorporates specific OCR (Optical Character Recognition) video analytics for license plate recognition from any European country.

The images and the identification of the license plate are processed by the Captum management software of DeInta Seguridad, a company that installs and maintains electronic security systems.

Captum is DeInta’s license plate management software, which integrates seamlessly with SCATI’s license plate recognition cameras and point-of-sale (POS) terminals for ticket generation.

When a vehicle enters or leaves the facility, the system identifies the license plate. If it is any type of subscriber the access is done automatically, applying the stipulated rate or simply accessing if it is a monthly subscriber, opening the barrier automatically.

If you are an occasional user, you make a pre-payment in the manual payment method according to your stay, type of vehicle, etc. and pay in cash or by credit card. This will speed up the transit of vehicles through the facilities.

The system is able to manage subscribers centrally or by company, allows centralized configuration for all locations and controls the automatic opening of barriers. There are different types of subscribers, by period, by number of accesses and by type of company, whether they are direct employees or independent companies working within the facilities.

If the vehicle does not belong to the list of subscribers, accesses outside the established schedule or violates any access permission, the system sends an alert in real time.

BENEFITS

With the installation of this solution for the control of vehicle access to the platform, this facility is at the forefront of technology and facilitates and minimizes the length of stay of its visitors.

Both DeInta and SCATI are companies specialized in offering solutions tailored to the needs of their customers and on this occasion they offer this platform a customized and complete solution capable of identifying vehicles accessing their facilities, charging the corresponding fee through a license plate recognition system using video surveillance cameras.

“In collaboration with the platform’s personnel, we have achieved an access management solution adapted to their needs that facilitates and simplifies their day-to-day management, minimizing the incidents that a system with this level of use generates,” says Jorge Pola, Marketing Director of DeInta.
