One of the world’s most popular music events and the largest in Brazil, held in Rio de Janeiro on the weekends of September 13-15 and 19-22, is using a SCATI ThermalScan camera to monitor part of the venue’s perimeter security.
SegurPro (a Brazilian company of the Prosegur Group) is the official company in charge of the security operation for the mega music event, which is expected to receive more than 700,000 people, and has entrusted SCATI to control part of the venue’s perimeter with a ThermalScan camera.
Integrated with the CCO (Operations Control Center) video surveillance system, the ThermalScan camera offers a 360º view of large areas without blind spots and is highly effective in intrusion detection for large perimeters.
In this case, the camera has been installed at a strategic point to prevent improper access of people and boats through the perimeter with the Jacarepaguá Lagoon (Rio de Janeiro).
The fact that thermal vision is used means that the quality of the images is not affected by foggy or low light conditions (night), so the user will have a 24×7 operating system.
“It is very satisfying that a major security player such as SegurPro relies on SCATI’s technology to protect the perimeter of this event, one of the most significant music events in Brazil and in the world.
As a company based in Brazil for 15 years, we are delighted to be able to make our security systems available at the most important events in the country. says Javier Larrodé, Director of SCATI Brazil.
360º vision of large areas without blind spots
ThermalScan cameras are capable of detecting, recognizing and tracking an unlimited number of targets (people, vehicles, etc.) automatically, over long distances even in the most adverse weather conditions and in total darkness providing high resolution images.
These cameras cover areas several kilometres away without leaving blind spots thanks to their high-speed rotation and the use of advanced optical image stabilisation technology.
For the protection of the areas closest to the premises to be protected, ThermalScan cameras can be associated with SCATI EYE PTZ Domes, with images already in the visible spectrum, which will automatically position themselves at those points where the intrusion is detected, in order to identify the object or person that generated the alert.
Features of the ThermalScan camera series
Infrared thermal imaging: Image display even in total darkness.
Total monitoring of large areas: Panoramic infrared has 360° wide-range continuous search capability.
Real-time imaging and panoramic view: Scan rate is 360°/2sec approx.
no blind spots.
Continuous monitoring of long distances: Different lens options and focal lengths.
Low false alarm rate: High data update frequency reduces the false alarm rate.
Multi-scenario application: Allows the design of different algorithms to detect different targets (people, vehicles, ships, etc.) in different scenarios.
In addition to music events, festivals or large trade fairs, ThermalScan cameras are ideal for the total protection of very large areas with irregular perimeters such as ports and airports, natural areas on land and at sea, as their installation minimizes costs and simplifies the installation and maintenance of the system compared to other conventional cameras.
